“I’m not exactly sure where we would be without Karina on the team. Starting a bank from the ground up takes a lot of hard work, and she has been here through it all since virtually the beginning. She’s a very hard worker, an invaluable team member, and an even better friend. Thank you, Karina, for your willingness to go the extra mile every day.”
 -Kevin Herrington, President and CEO

Q: Tell us a little bit about your role. Most would think I am the “Sheriff in Town,” but I like to see myself as the bodyguard – the one who protects the bank from being “in trouble.” Therefore, I take my job very seriously.

Q: How has your role evolved since you’ve been with Lineage Bank? After over 10 years in compliance, I felt like I had reached a plateau in banking. Lineage introduced me to a whole new world, which has required me to further my knowledge and allowed me to grow professionally.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Lineage Bank? People. I love my team members.

Q: What got you into the banking industry? I didn’t want to sell insurance.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of working at a community bank? Community Banks are service-focused. We thrive in taking care of our customers and our communities.

Q: What is your best advice for someone looking to get into compliance? Don’t. There is no YOLO in Compliance. Just kidding!!! Compliance is an important area of the bank. Those who work in Compliance can either take a “no approach” or a “how approach.” Pick the latter.

Q: What are some of your hobbies? What do you do in your free time? Spending time with my family, watching my boys play soccer, and going to Geodis to watch NSC (Nashville Soccer Club).

Q: I understand you played volleyball in college. How has being a student athlete translated into your role with Lineage Bank? Being a student-athlete requires commitment and discipline.  Being able to manage time efficiently has certainly been valuable in my role at Lineage.

Q: Who is your favorite sports team? Flamengo – The biggest Brazilian Soccer Club and also where I played volleyball for many years. In the U.S., definitely NSC.
